Screening Wild Pepper Germplasm for Resistance to Xanthomonas hortorum pv. gardneri

نویسندگان

چکیده

Bacterial spot disease on peppers is caused by four species of the genus Xanthomonas. This causes black lesions not only leaves but also fruit, leading to yield and quality loss. Xanthomonas cause major outbreaks in tropical, subtropical humid continental regions worldwide. blight xanthomonads occurs both greenhouse- field-grown particularly important areas characterized hot environmental conditions. As pesticides are currently sufficiently effective control bacterial spot, development pepper varieties resistant species, including X. hortorum pv. gardneri, primary importance for sustainable production. In our research, 119 lines Capsicum baccatum from USDA ARS gene bank (Griffin, GA) MATE (Hungarian University Agriculture Life Sciences) were tested against strains gardneri under greenhouse Four accessions wild C. appeared be seven trials. The genotypes identified this study can used resistance pyramidation different spotted pepper.

Isolation and characterisation of the lipopolysaccharide from Xanthomonas hortorum pv. vitians.

Xanthomonas hortorum pv. vitians is a Gram-negative bacterium that acts as the causative agent of bacterial leaf spot and headrot in lettuce. The lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of this bacterium is suspected to be an important molecule for adhesion to the plants. We have isolated the LPS, prepared the lipid A and the polysaccharide moieties thereof, and characterised all preparations by compositional...

Phenotypic and Molecular Screening of Tomato Germplasm for Resistance to Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) is a major tomato virus in tropical and subtropical regions. In this study, 134 accessions of Solanum lycopersicum and six accessions of Solanum peruvianum were assessed for resistance to an Iranian isolate of TYLCV. Plants were inoculated using whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci) and the reaction of plants was evaluated based on either disease symptoms or viral DN...

Sensitive and specific detection of Xanthomonas hortorum pv. pelargonii in geranium by real-time PCR

Xanthomonas hortorum pv. pelargonii is the causal agent of bacterial blight of geranium. A specific and rapid real-time PCR assay for detecting the bacterium in plant was developed in this study. We compared sensitivity of conventional and real-time PCR for detection of the pathogen in inoculated plants. For application to disease management programs, PCR amplification must be able to detect la...

Natural variability in Arabidopsis thaliana germplasm response to Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris

This work aimed to study the interaction between the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris (Xcc), the pathogen responsible for black rot of crucifers. The response of 32 accessions of A. thaliana to the Brazilian isolate of Xcc CNPH 17 was evaluated. No immunity-like response was observed. “CS1308”, “CS1566” and “CS1643” grown in continuous light were among ...

Aconitase B Is Required for Optimal Growth of Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria in Pepper Plants

The aerobic plant pathogenic bacterium Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria (Xcv) colonizes the intercellular spaces of pepper and tomato. One enzyme that might contribute to the successful proliferation of Xcv in the host is the iron-sulfur protein aconitase, which catalyzes the conversion of citrate to isocitrate in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and might also sense reactive oxygen spe...
